Now that baby potatoes are easily available in neatly packed 1kg bags I find myself making this recipe quite often.
Ingredients:
1/2 kg small potatoes
1/2 cup oil
2 tej patta/ bay leaves
2 green chillies
1/2 tsp jeera/cumin seeds
1 tsp chilli powder
1" ground ginger
Juice from 2 onions
1/2 cup dahi/yogurt
2 tsp butter
1 tsp garam masala
2 tomatoes, chopped
Salt
Scrub the small potatoes very well.Heat oil and deep fry the potatoes.Remove from oil.
Add bay leaves,green chillies cumin, ginger, onion juice and dahi/yogurt. Saute for at least 5 -7 minutes stirring well.Add the fried poatatoes and half a cup water. Cover and cook till done.
Now add 1 tsp of roasted cumin, the butter, garam masala and chopped tomatoes.
Stir well and serve with rice or rotis.
